A Creative Touch in the Print Shop

Walk into the Planetary Design print shop and you’ll see more than tumblers and canisters being customized, you’ll see art in action. At the heart of it all is the manager of the Planetary Design in-house print shop, Candice, a talented local artist who brings her creative eye to both the print shop and her own canvas paintings.

Whether she’s helping a customer engrave a meaningful design, digitizing one of her own sketches for a sample product, or painting at home, Candice’s creativity flows through everything she does. At Planetary Design, customers can take home something special: not just a customized product, but a piece of artwork created by someone right here in the community of Missoula, MT.

Art Runs Deep: How Candice Found Her Path

Candice’s love for art began early. “I have been doing art for as long as I can remember,” she shares. “Even as a very young child, I found an outlet in using colors, shapes, and patterns to illustrate my thoughts, hopes, and experiences.”

Her journey has been shaped by deeply personal moments. One of her most meaningful pieces is a painting of a school of tarpon fish created for her dad. Realism wasn’t her strongest style, but her father encouraged her to push her limits. The piece took a year to complete, and just months later, he passed away. “This painting carries a bit of his spirit for me,” Candice says.

Today, she balances life as an artist with her work at Planetary Design’s print shop, where her creativity and technical skills come together to offer something truly unique to customers and community.

Inside Candice’s Creative World

Candice’s art draws inspiration from both nature and the human experience. “I’m deeply inspired by things found in the natural world and how human experiences reflect those patterns,” she explains. Her work often explores themes of growth, balance, contrast, chaos, and joy.

Her artistic style blends bold colors, fine details, and layered textures that encourage viewers to look closer. While she experiments with many mediums, painting on canvas is where she feels most at home.

A typical day might include engraving designs in the print shop, then heading home to transform an idea into brushstrokes on a canvas. Whether it’s a travel mug with a honeybee engraving or a large-scale painting full of abstract emotion, each piece reflects her desire to connect inner experiences with the outside world.

Custom Designs That Make Planetary Design Unique

One of the most exciting ways Candice’s creativity shows up is through custom designs at the Planetary Design store. Many of the personalized engravings customers can choose from come directly from her original artwork.

“Some of the customizable designs are elements from paintings and sketches I’ve done over the years,” Candice explains. “I’ll take a close-up photo of something, like a flower or texture, and digitize it into an engravable image.”

Candice’s work makes every product feel personal and one-of-a-kind. Choosing a design from a local artist not only sets your gear apart, it also connects you to the creativity of the community.

Where to Find Candice’s Art Beyond the Store

Want to explore more of Candice’s work outside of Planetary Design? You can find her on Instagram at @serenitycreations406, where she shares current projects, available artwork, and updates on future events. She also welcomes messages for commissions or custom requests.

Her Etsy shop, SerenityCreationsMT, offers artwork printed on functional merchandise like tote bags, hoodies, and stickers. It’s a great way to support her art while finding unique, creative pieces for everyday life.

While she doesn’t have exhibitions scheduled right now, Candice keeps her followers updated on social media whenever a new opportunity arises.
